116th and Hazel Dell, Carmel, Indiana
We visited the fast-growing Indianapolis suburb of Carmel to capture aerial photos of some of the infrastructure improvements taking place as part of the Carmel Link 2.0 project. Carmel began replacing its signalized intersections with roundabouts in the late 1990s to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal, reduce injury accidents, and to make transportation easier for pedestrians and bicyclists. The city now boasts more than one-hundred roundabouts, the most of any city in the United States.
In the background of the photos, you can see Founders Park, Iris Estate, and many of the residences along Hazel Dell & 116th.
